Key Steps in Peanut Oil Production: From Raw Material to Refined Oil

Peanut oil is a commonly consumed oil in daily life, known for its fresh color and nutritional benefits, making it popular among most people. The peanut oil products sold in supermarkets are generally divided into pressed peanut oil and extracted peanut oil. Pressed peanut oil is produced using oil presses, while the extraction process involves using solvents to extract the oil. These two processes are the most commonly used in oil factories today. Peanuts have an oil content of over 40%, making them a high-oil-content oilseed. The flavor of peanut oil is widely appreciated, so most oil factories use the pressing process to produce peanut oil. The subsequent processes can produce either aromatic peanut oil or pressed peanut oil. The peanut oil production process involves multiple steps from raw material to oil, including cleaning, destoning, crushing, softening, flaking, steaming, pressing, filtering, and refining.

These processes serve the following purposes:

1. Cleaning and Destoning:

This step removes stones, sand, plant stems, and other impurities mixed in during harvesting, transportation, and drying. It improves the quality of peanut oil and prevents equipment wear and tear.

2. Crushing, Softening, Flaking:

Crushed peanuts are softened to enhance their flexibility and reduce powder formation during flaking. Flaking processes peanuts into thin flakes, altering their structure, increasing surface area, shortening oil paths, and facilitating oil extraction.

3.Cooking:

This step adjusts the temperature and humidity of the peanut flakes, making them more suitable for oil extraction. Cooking also enhances the aroma of the peanut oil.

4. Pressing and Refining:

Pre-treated peanut flakes are pressed to obtain crude peanut oil. Depending on the desired quality, appropriate refining equipment and processes are used. The crude oil is refined to remove impurities, resulting in the final peanut oil product.
