The Benefits of Solvent Extraction in Edible Oil Production

Solvent extraction is one of the most common methods in the edible oil processing industry today. Projects using this method typically have large production capacities, such as those producing over 30 tons per day. Common projects using solvent extraction equipment include soybean oil, rapeseed oil, cottonseed oil, rice bran oil, etc.

The solvent extraction process can be divided into direct extraction and pre-press extraction, depending on the oil content of the raw materials. For low oil content materials like soybeans and rice bran, direct extraction is suitable. For high oil content materials like rapeseed and peanuts, pre-press extraction is preferred. The pre-pressing process extracts 80% to 89% of the oil using an oil press, and the remaining cake is then crushed and sent to extraction equipment for further oil extraction.

Regardless of the extraction method used, the advantages of solvent extraction are clear: high oil yield, low residual oil rate (less than 1%), and high quality of the extracted cake, which is beneficial for secondary use.
