Key Technologies and Complete Equipment for Large-Scale Processing of High-Starch Oilseeds (Cyperus)

On December 21st, the Food Laboratory of Zhongyuan held its first scientific and technological achievement evaluation meeting for the project "Key Technologies and Complete Equipment for Large-Scale Processing of High-Starch Oilseeds (Cyperus esculentus)." This project was jointly completed by Food Laboratory of Zhongyuan, Henan Huatai Cereals and Oils Machinery Co., Ltd., Henan University of Technology, and Jiangnan University.

The evaluation experts reviewed the project report and related materials. After discussions, they concluded that the project successfully developed several key technologies, including polishing and impurity removal, embryo rolling, granulation, and low-temperature expansion for Cyperus esculentus. These technologies effectively addressed challenges such as high powder content, poor solvent permeability, high solvent content in wet meal, and easy agglomeration during desolventizing. Additionally, they designed and manufactured 10 sets of equipment, including polishing and impurity removal machines, embryo rolling machines, granulators, low-temperature expanders, automatic control chain extractors, and low-temperature dry heat rake desolventizers. They also successfully designed a 300 t/d Cyperus esculentus oil production line, significantly reducing the oil production cost to be comparable with that of soybeans.

The expert panel unanimously agreed that the project filled a domestic and international gap in low-cost, large-scale, continuous oil production technology and equipment for Cyperus esculentus, reaching an internationally leading level. They recommended accelerating the promotion of these technologies to form a series of processing scales, creating greater social and economic benefits
